2009’s “Split the Line [Dubfire Mega Remix],” an alchemic symbiosis of Paul Ritch’s “Split” and “Walk the Line,” best exemplifies the dark and evocative sound Dubfire has cultivated since embarking on his solo journey.

Envisioning a launching pad for his own productions while nurturing fresh talent worldwide, Dubfire took another bold leap forward, launching his own label, Science+Technology Digital Audio. SCI+TEC rapidly built a die-hard fan base thanks to well-received tracks by innovative new players like Delete, Paul Ritch, Rocha & Lewinger, and The Dolphins. In March 2009, Dubfire presented his sonic vision for SCI+TEC with a DJ Mag covermount titled “Past, Present, and Future,” revealing a personal mix of SCI+TEC’s best and brightest. To date, the label’s roster proudly encompasses a powerful mix of marquee players and hungry newcomers.

As his productions and remixes garnered massive popularity—8 are listed on Beatport’s “Best of DJ Charts, 2009″—Dubfire’s goodwill among critics and fans steamrolled into 2009 unabated. “Split the Line” remains one of Beatport’s top sellers. “Ten Years Cocoon Ibiza,” a two-disc compilation [co-mixed with Loco Dice] met with a rapturous reception, further whetting fans’ fervent appetites for the appropriately-dubbed “Rabid,” which released in September.

Amongst his contemporaries, Dubfire remains a unique DJ, producer, and remixer—eager to hone and further evolve his signature sound. In 2001 Davide produced tracks on Design Music and Conform, but in 2002 for greater artistic freedom he set up his own techno imprint, Sketch, to give the groove and freshness back to techno music. He left Naples for Barcelona in 2004, looking to take the knowledge he had acquired in Naples’s underground scene into the capital city of the electronic music world. The following year Davide’s first label Sketch evolved into MiniSketch. It was initially intended to be a smaller version of the main imprint, but soon became the main project.

After some releases for Morris Audio and other labels under his alias erikOtanabE, he created Titbit Records with some Neapolitan friends dedicated to glitch-house productions. By 2006 Davide was producing tracks for Josh Wink’s Ovum, the German label Resopal and Alex Under’s CMYK.

In 2007 Davide joined the crew of Circo Loco Ibiza, rocking the island with a residency at DC10. His records are played by DJs like Danny Tenaglia, Luciano, Dubfire (DeepDish) and Steve Lawler in clubs across the world.
And his own dynamic DJ sets are symbolic of the quality of his music: light and fast and full of strength.
