For the 12th time 10 Days Off will take place during the "Gentse Feesten", and as usual, KC Vooruit and the ICC are the places to be. The yearly high mass of club music in Belgium once again lives up to its eclectic rep with a mixture of old and new, established and upcoming, and being a stage for all relevant club styles:
house, electro, breakbeats, rock, drum 'n' bass, minimal, broken beats, nu-jazz, techno, funk, disco, electro-house - if you can dance to it, you'll find it at 10 Days Off. The 1st batch of names says it all: Ellen Allien & Apparat (Ger, live) 2 label bosses (Bpitch Control and Shitkatapult) who this year released the beautiful "Orchestra of Bubbles". Tomas Andersson (Swe, live) The man from the north who can do anything. He's burning down the dance hall with "Copy Cat" as we speak. Miss Kittin & The Hacker (F) 1 of the most popular DJ duos who after parting ways in 2001 came back together for a set at 10 Days Off 2004. David Guetta (F) Hit making machine who won no less than 3 House Music Awards last year: DJ of the Year, Best DJ Set and Standout Event WMC. Adam Beyer (Swe) Techno giant who celebrates the 10th anniversry of his Drumcode label. Nathan Fake (UK, live) Everybody's favourite who surprised and thrilled the masses this year with his excellent "Drowning in a Sea of Love" debut album. No beats, but off-centre electronics somewhere between Boards of Canada and My Bloody Valentine. Carl Craig (USA) 1 of the few true techno legends, a pioneer straight out of the birthplace of the genre, Detroit. Voom Voom (Ger) The coming together of 3 Lords of the leftfield dance scene: Fauna Flash and Peter Kruder. This year their 1st long player "Peng Peng" was released on !K7. Prins Thomas (Nor) Together with his buddies Lindstrøm and Todd Terje he forms the Holy Trinity of modern disco. Likes it dubby and hypnotic. Âme (Ger) Soulful duo, masters of deep house and Detroit techno. Did quite some damage this year with minimal stomper "Rej". Switch (UK) A.k.a. Solid Groove, a London hip-hop freak who knows his way around the house. Scored big time this Spring with his single "This Is Sick". Jazzanova (Ger) 6 studio wizards who perform miracles with samples of the most obscure records you can't find. Label bosses of the brilliant Sonar Kollektiv label, with 3 compilations out this year: "Paz e Futebol", "Kings of Jazz" (with Gilles Peterson) and their 2nd instalment of the "Blue Note Trip" series. Todd Terje (Nor) Responsible of 1 of this year's absolute dancefloor burners: "Eurodans". See also: Prins Thomas. Tiefschwarz (Ger) Ali and Basti Schwarz have been absolute top players of the underground dance scene for years now. Like last year they will close off 10 Days Off with a marathon set alongside Hell. Hell (Ger) Deejay Gigolos' head honcho, 'der Kaiser' of the gritty techno and electro beats. See also: Tiefschwarz. More info soon on www.10daysoff.be.
