Dekker
dekker.jpgThrough his various projects, Dekker is rapidly becoming one of London's most talked about DJs and - as one half of Dekker & Johan - one of the scene's favourite producer/remixers.

A young Charlie Anderson moved from the westcountry to London ten years ago - along with several friends and kindred spirits including Joe Ransom and Will Saul - and soon adopted the "Dekker" DJ moniker in homage to his favourite dub-reggae artiste (R.I.P Des). Dekker went on to become a fixture on London's underground club circuit, playing regular sets at FabricLive and a host of other scenester parties, including more recently Bugged Out!, Always Fridays (Egg), and his own Apocalypso night.

Having learned his turntablist's craft on a diet of hip hop, bashment and old school electro, his style has since evolved to combine the quick-cutting ethos of his roots with, cutting-edge underground dance music. His sets are made up of all varieties of house & techno beats and b-lines, elements of disco and acid and a plethora of fresh productions and edits, all impatiently mixed and chopped with his trademark pinpoint accuracy.

Over the last two years Dekker has held major monthly residencies at Sankeys in Manchester and Egg in London, and has played several main-room peak-time sets at The End, Fabric, and other clubs across the UK and Europe. These sets have gone to producing the big-room sound of the current Dekker set, which he took to festivals including Bestival, Field Day and Glastonbury in the summer.

Dekker's regular appearances at Bugged Out! in Manchester and London have produced some of his most electrifying club moments of the past year. You can hear one of his recent Bugged Out! sets (recorded live in The End's main room before Felix Da Housecat) on the player.

Dekker & Johan

Since teaming up with Canadian DJ/producer Johan Wadsten, things have stepped up another gear for Dekker. Having been in the studio for less than a year they have already had their work described variously as:

"awesome", "names to look out for in 2009" - by Pete Tong, who made their epic remix of The Hours his Essential New Tune

"just a staggeringly beautiful mix. That is one of the most memorable and stylish debuts of anybody in the last 9 odd years that this show has been on XFM" - by Eddie Temple Morris, who made it his Hotplate and played it every week throughout December

"guaranteed to have the kids losing it in the best possible way", "will cause more shivers down your spine than having your toes sucked on crack" - by iDJ mag, who put it in their Heavy Rotation top ten and gave it a rare 10/10 review

"perfect" by Acid Girls

"only just out of the starting gate, Dekker & Johan have already got a style all their own, both danceable and melancholic, both wiggly and stiff. We're waiting with baited breath for more from these two" - Palms Out Sounds

"absolute fire", "Dekker & Johan absolutely kill it on the remix" - Good Weather for Airstrikes

Club support has come from Laurent Garnier, Tiga, James Lavelle, AutoKratz, Punks Jump Up, Duke Dumont, Riva Starr, Ashley Beedle, Riotous Rockers, Trailer Trash DJs, Loose Cannons, Union of Knives, Paolo Mojo, Zak Frost, Arveene, Tronik Youth, Dan Kahuna, etc.

With a string or original productions and remixes (for the likes of Yo Majesty and Striken City) in the bag and set for release over the coming months, things are set to go stratospheric for these two very shortly.
Apocalypso

Apocalypso - Dekker's monthly club night at the Old Queen's Head in Angel is approaching its second birthday. The incredible list of guest DJs, along with a reputation built from month in, month out, mayhem-inducing sets from Dekker and co-residents Punks Jump Up (Kitsune), have made this one of London's most intense and oversubscribed parties. Recent guests include Jesse Rose, James Lavelle, Paul Epworth, Duke Dumont & Autokratz.
MissOddKidd

As half of MissOddKidd & Dekker Live - the groundbreaking, fully mixed live MC/DJ show - Dekker has performed across Europe from Berlin to Moscow, recorded sessions for Radio 1, and has destroyed numerous festival crowds. Plans for future work with his favourite MC, MissOddKidd (both live and in the studio) are afoot. Check out Dekker & Johan's massive collaboration with MissOddKidd on the track "Smoke Machine".
